Sport
Hi. My husband and I adopted a dog from you a few months ago. You called him
"Red." He was a blue-heeler mix, and was up for adoption with his sister named
"Clara Bell??" Anyway...we have named him "Sport," and absolutely LOVE him! He
is the best dog! We'd love to send a picture to whoever fostered him sometime
too - he has grown so much.
...several people have said Sport looks like a Rhodesian Ridgeback, and several
have said he looks like he has some Chow in him. Do you have any information on
his parents?? I'm just curious - I want to research the different breeds!!
Thanks for everything! We are loving having Sport as our pet. Whoever kept him
when he was little did a great job with him!! He came to us very well trained!! Thanks!
Paula :-)

Sydnee
Hi all! I was just writing to tell you that our first night with Dulce (Sydnee)
was great! (we decided to change her name, I hope you don't mind). Well, she is
quite the little lover! She has taken a liking to me, but I think it may take
a little time with Trent. When we got her home, we showed her around...and took
her on a walk to see the ducks! I could tell she was excited...but also winding
down from a long day! We took her back home and laid her in a big, soft towel
and she went right to sleep. When bed time rolled around...we tried the kennel
thing (well for about ten minutes) and then decided to put her in the bed with
us! as soon as she hit the bed, she was out like a light! She slept all night
long, with a few twists and turns to get comfy! All in all she did PERFECT! We
thank you so much for letting us take this little angle home! We look forward
to keeping in touch, and will send you updated pictures as she settles in. God
Bless
Aleigha, Trent, Shorty, and Sydnee

Bob (now Duley) is finally living the good life! Lots of room to roam and two other buddies his
size and age to play with. Bob (and his foster mom) both went through quite a
bit to reach this point. He was rescued from the streets and at one point became
so ill, we didn't know if he would make it. But he did make it and was adopted
out only to be returned because the family was not very appreciative of Bob's
creativity when left to his own devices. He was returned along with a few newly
acquired behavioral problems but with a lot of love and patience from his foster
mom, was able to settle down and get past them. Then he caught the interest of
his new owner - who had recently lost a dog companion. Long story short.....here
he is at his new home, playing with one of his new buddies! Happy ending.

Sasha
Sasha just continues to surprise us, she is sooo, not the dog we brought home! She follows me around like a baby, cries when we leave and howls some now when
we sing!! She loves her walks and is so protective of us. We all just love her
to death. The only thing I wish she would let us do, love on her a bit more.
She is so darn cute that you just want to be messing with her all the time! We are still working with her on not standing up with her paws on the table and
counters to help herself to our dinners! She knows she has done wrong
but just can't help herself. She also knows all the key words for her fun things,
like walk, ride, night/night (as she sleeps under our bed or with the kids), and
probably the silliest thing has to do with one of her favorite snacks. We bought
her some pigs ears and the kids started snorting like a pig when they were allowed
to give her one, so now if you snort, she runs to where the bag is and anxiously
awaits one. Our daughter has a friend that snorts when she laughs so that has
been interesting!! Here are the pictures so you can see how pretty she is.

Broadway
I just want to update you on how well Broadway is doing. He is the smartest and
cutest dog ever. He absolutely loves me and can't let me out of his site. He
doesn't want to go in the back yard without me so I haven't figured that part
out yet. If I'm not with him, he cries (though he has stopped crying when I leave
the house and leave him in the crate in the morning).
In minutes he has already learned to sit, shake, beg (he fell over today), lay
down (that's the newest one) and come. He sometimes tries to sit, shake and beg
at the same time...puppy treats are the best!
He is well taken care of. My father is the only one teaching him bad habits. My dad pulled weeds in the yard and Broadway thought that was so much fun, he
tried pulling grass. My dad grew up on a farm and doesn't quite understand raising
completely civilized dogs. So I'm trying to stop the digging and my dad encourages
it. He is the cutest dog ever. He was groomed last week, so he's ready for the
Broadway stage! I am meeting all the morning neighbors again. We say hello to
Mindy and Molly (two beagles) every morning on our walk. They love Broadway too. The
first day Broadway was scared to death of them, now he insists on going to say
hello.
Thanks for all your help.

Gwenny
Just a quick follow up to tell you how Betty/Bailey/now Gwenny is doing. She is the happiest dog in the entire world. She lives with a family
that thinks she's perfect in every way, including her occasional poo-poos in the
house. She has two bows in her hair at all times and smells wonderful. She sleeps
with Beth every night and has the run of 3800 square feet. I visit her often
and she loves that, too!! I wanted you to be confident that she is happy, loved, safe and oh so wonderful.
Betty/Bailey/Gwenny was supposed to be Beth's dog...

Ivy
Just wanted to update you on Ivy. She is such a joy. But you probably already
know this. She is so loving, tender, and smart.
She is energetic and still a puppy. Enclosed are pictures. Thank you for bringing
us together.
Blessings,
Margaret

Buddy
This little guy is truly a lucky boy. They named him Pinky at the shelter because
he was all pink having lost most of his hair from a bad case of mange. He was
rescued and nursed back to health and adopted by a successful young couple who
have decided to spoil him as an only child should be spoiled. Little Pinky, now
Buddy, is living the good life and you can tell he's loving every minute of it!

Addie
I wanted to give you an update on Addie (Lexie), the puppy I dopted 4 weeks ago
... Addie is settling in nicely and acts like she owns the place. She still has
a problem with marking in the house, so I keep her attached to me while we're
inside ... or at least in the same room. Other than that, she's a pretty normal,
stubborn big puppy. She's now sleeping in my bed ... which is a welcome relief
from the battles to get her into the utility room at night. And she especially
loves romping around the backyard when it's cool and protecting the homestead
from the nefarious
birds that dare land on her yard.
She loves walks and hugs and beef broth (now called "Addie Juice") on her food. Her favorite toy is a beach towel and her favorite team is the Kansas City Chiefs. (She's seen all of their games.) Rich

A letter from Starsky:
Dear lovely pet rescue people,
I just thought I would drop you a line to let you know how I am settling in with
my forever family.
Well, it's been a busy weekend. On Saturday I found out all about my new home,
which is very cool. I took a crate with me, since it's what I'm used to, but I
really prefer the sofa. And since I'm such a gentleman and so well behaved, I've
decided just to use the crate as a place to keep my water bowl and my toys and
other stuff. I am very clever. I haven't had a single accident!
I had a bath yesterday, which I wasn't sure about at first, but I
decided to be polite and just put up with it. Afterwards I went for a
walk. I don't like the sound of traffic at all so we stay well away from roads.
When I got home I had my dinner, and I liked it so much I had a second helping.
Guess what I love? Well, I love snuggling with Joy and Lizzy, my forever friends,
of course, but I also love RAWHIDE. Rawhide is just the wonderfullest stuff you
can imagine. You should try some!
Today Joy and Lizzy went out and bought me some toys with their pocket money.
They were so excited to see me and give me hugs that they got up at 5.30 in the
morning! Later I met some new friends. We went up to the dog park at White Rock Lake. They have a safe place away from traffic and it's
just for small dogs like me. At first I was a little shy, so I just stayed outside
the fence and watched for a while, but later on I got interested and went inside.
I did a bit of sniffing, and visiting with new people, and soon I started to race
around and have lots of fun. My tail got very waggy. Some of the other guys who
hang out there used to live in shelters too. Did I mention I am very clever? I
am! I come when I'm called most of the time and just lie down at my mom's feet.
How 'bout that? Well, I have to go now. I'm planning an evening of snuggling on
the sofa with mom and dad and watching a film. I don't think I'm allowed a beer
but I'm hoping there might be a bit of rawhide in it for me. Ahhhh, this is the life! Thank you for rescuing me and helping me find my forever family.
They are just so happy to have me join their pack. They all send their best wishes
and say to tell you we'll pop by if we can next time you're at the Petsmart down
our way. Until then, take care.
Love, Starsky

Phoebe
Hi everyone, I just wanted to tell you thanks for making it so easy to adopt Priscilla a year
ago. When I adopted her I was hoping she would make a good sister for my other
kitten, Zoe, a somewhat snotty Siamese (he he). As you can see from the attached
photos, they get along great. Priscilla now goes by Phoebe and is very sweet and
affectionate which is great because Zoe tends to be a little high-strung. It
makes for nice variety. They play a lot and keep each other well-groomed. =)
Phoebe still has not learned to meow, she kinda squeaks still but can be quite
insistent in the morning with her squeak. She loves the fishing pole toy and I
have to buy new ones just about weekly. She can entertain herself with it but
loves it when I play tug-of-war with her. She also has a nice little hiding spot
under my bed and frequents it while I am at work. Sometimes when I am slumming
it on Sunday she sleeps in the crook of my arm while I lay on the couch watching
TV. All in all she is great. Thank you very much!

Harley and Cheyenne
We have had "the girls" since Sunday and they are adjusting beautifully. They
are getting A LOT of attention and spoiling. They are very sweet, have good manners,
mind and are good walkers. They even get along great with the cat. They have
fun playing with their toys when they're out in the yard and sleep at night in
our bedroom on their dog beds. Of course, when I really want to spoil them I
let them on the bed with me while I watch TV, but they know when it's bedtime
that they get down on their beds. (The cat traditionally sleeps on the bed and
I had to give her that, since she was there first.) All this getting along and
it's only been a couple of days. We really lucked out to get such great dogs.
